Privacy Policy
Tyne is a sample-first marketplace for CPG packaging at trytyne.com. This policy explains what we collect from buyers and suppliers, why, who processes it for us, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect what we need to run your account and ship your orders, we don't run ad trackers, and we never sell your data.
1.Information We Collect
- Buyer accounts: email address, and any profile details you add: name, company, phone, website, and shipping address. Sign-in is passwordless (a link emailed to you) or via Google sign-in, which shares your Google account email and name with us.
- Orders: what you ordered (samples, launch kits, bulk quotes), the shipping address and delivery option you choose at checkout, and payment status. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number.
- Requests: quote and customization requests, including quantities, notes, and any artwork files you upload.
- Supplier accounts: business name, contact details, address, verification documents, and (for high-volume sellers, as required by the INFORM Consumers Act) bank account and tax identity information.
- Technical basics: the IP address on form submissions (for abuse prevention) and standard server logs from our hosting provider.
- Product analytics: we use Microsoft Clarity to understand how the site is actually used. Clarity collects interaction data, including pages viewed, clicks, scrolling and mouse movement, referring page, device, browser, operating system, and general location inferred from your IP address, and assembles it into session replays and aggregate heatmaps. We use this only to find broken flows and improve the site. Microsoft processes this data as a service provider and under its own privacy statement. We do not use advertising pixels, and Tyne does not use this data to target advertising.
2.How We Use Information
We use your information to operate your account, process and ship orders, prepare and honor bulk quotes, apply sample credits and reorder discounts, review supplier listings, respond to your requests, send transactional email (sign-in links, order and quote notifications), prevent fraud and abuse, and comply with law. We do not use your data for third-party advertising.
3.How We Share Information
- Service providers: Stripe (payments), Airtable (our order and catalog database), Netlify (hosting), EasyPost and shipping carriers (rates, labels, and delivery; they receive your name and shipping address), Resend (transactional email), Microsoft (Clarity product analytics, described in Section 1), and Google (only if you choose Google sign-in). Each processes data to provide its service to us, subject to its own privacy terms.
- Suppliers: when you request a quote or customization, the relevant supplier sees the demand (product, quantity, and request details) but not your contact information. Tyne coordinates the transaction.
- Legal: we may disclose information when required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect Tyne, our users, or others.
We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
4.Cookies & Local Storage
We use a small number of first-party cookies and browser storage, plus analytics cookies from Microsoft Clarity:
- Session cookies (HttpOnly) that keep you signed in as a buyer or supplier. Signing out invalidates them; “Sign out everywhere” invalidates every session.
- A cosmetic hint cookie so pages can show “Account” instead of “Sign in.”
- Local storage on your device for your sample cart and short-lived catalog caches that make pages load faster.
- Analytics cookies set by Microsoft Clarity (
_clckand_clsk) that distinguish one visit from another so session replays and heatmaps are accurate. As part of its service, Clarity may also read or set Microsoft advertising identifiers such as_uetvid.
Tyne does not run advertising campaigns and places no ad-network pixels of its own; the Microsoft identifiers above are set by Clarity as part of Microsoft’s service and are governed by Microsoft’s privacy statement. Stripe sets its own cookies inside the checkout to process payment securely and prevent fraud; see Stripe’s privacy policy. You can block or delete any of these cookies in your browser settings, and browser tracking protection will block Clarity entirely. The functional cookies are required to stay signed in; blocking the analytics cookies does not affect how the site works.
5.International Data Transfers
We are a U.S. company and our service providers store data in the United States. If you access the services from outside the U.S., you understand your information is processed in the U.S.
6.Data Retention
We keep account and order records while your account is active and as needed for bookkeeping, sample-credit tracking, tax, and legal obligations. Artwork files are kept while the related request or order is active. You can ask us to delete your account and associated personal data (Section 8); we may retain what the law requires us to keep, such as transaction records.
7.Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS) sitewide, HttpOnly session cookies, passwordless sign-in (so there is no Tyne password to steal), access-limited databases, and payment processing that keeps card data with Stripe. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting your personal data, we will notify you as required by law.
8.Your Choices & Rights
You can view and update your profile (name, company, email, phone, website, address) anytime from your account page. Depending on where you live, including under state privacy laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising them. To exercise any of these rights, email joe@usetyne.com from your account email; we respond within the time required by applicable law. We do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of selling.
9.Children’s Privacy
The services are for business use by people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10.Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a new effective date and, where practical, sent to your account email.
